Union of India's Interim Budget 2014-15

Highlights of The Interim Budget 2014-15 The Union Finance Minister, Shri P. Chidambaram here today presented the Interim Budget 2014-15 that shows an  Estimated Plan Expenditure of Rs. 5,55,322 Crore and  Non-Plan Expenditure of Rs. 12,07,892 Crore Fiscal Deficit to be Pegged at 4.1% and  The Revenue Deficit at 3%  The fiscal deficit (of current financial year) at 4.6% and  The revenue deficit (of current financial year) at 3.3%. The fiscal deficit during 2014-15 will be below the target set by the fiscal consolidation path. What is Vote-on-account ?

What is Vote on Account? The discussion on the Budget begins a few days after its presentation. In a democratic set-up, Government is anxious to give Parliament full opportunity to discuss the budgetary provisions and the various proposals for taxation. Since Parliament is not able to vote the entire budget before the commencement of the new financial year, the necessity to keep enough finance at the disposal of Government in order to allow it to run the administration of the country remains. A special provision is, therefore, made for "Vote on Account" by which Government obtains the Vote of Parliament for a sum sufficient to incur expenditure on various items for a part of the year. What is Monorail?

What is Monorail ? According to official definition, Monorail.org : MO*NO*RAIL n. 1. A single rail serving as a track for passenger or freight vehicles. In most cases rail is elevated, but monorails can also run at grade, below grade or in subway tunnels. Vehicles are either suspended from or straddle a narrow guideway. Monorail vehicles are WIDER than the guideway that supports them. Two more attempts for Civil Service Examination 2014 onwards

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions had released a note regarding relaxing more attempts in the Civil Services Examination 2014,  two additional attempts to all categories of candidates. According to the note: "The Central Government has approved two additional attempts to all categories of candidates w.e.f. Civil Services Examination 2014, with consequential age  relaxation of maximum age for all  categories of candidates, if required.” It is to note that the Civil Services Examination for the year 2014 is going late by the normal schedule of the Pre Test i.e.UPSC CSAT 2014. The probable date is August 24.In this regard, Civil Services Aspirants are eagerly waiting for the notification of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2014!
