What is Vote on Account? The discussion on the Budget begins a few days after its presentation. In a democratic set-up, Government is anxious to give Parliament full opportunity to discuss the budgetary provisions and the various proposals for taxation. Since Parliament is not able to vote the entire budget before the commencement of the new financial year, the necessity to keep enough finance at the disposal of Government in order to allow it to run the administration of the country remains. A special provision is, therefore, made for "Vote on Account" by which Government obtains the Vote of Parliament for a sum sufficient to incur expenditure on various items for a part of the year. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions had released a note regarding relaxing more attempts in the Civil Services Examination 2014, two additional attempts to all categories of candidates. According to the note: "The Central Government has approved two additional attempts to all categories of candidates w.e.f. Civil Services Examination 2014, with consequential age relaxation of maximum age for all categories of candidates, if required.” It is to note that the Civil Services Examination for the year 2014 is going late by the normal schedule of the Pre Test i.e.UPSC CSAT 2014. The probable date is August 24.In this regard, Civil Services Aspirants are eagerly waiting for the notification of the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2014!

The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2011 was conducted on 12th June, 2011. A record number of 4,72,290 candidates applied for this examination, out of which 2,43,003 candidates have actually appeared. 11984 candidates were declared qualified for the Main written examination held in October-November, 2011 out of which 2417 candidates were selected for the Personality Test conducted in March-April, 2012. Finally, 910 candidates (715 male & 195 female) have been recommended for appointment to the IAS, IFS, IPS and other Central Services against 1001 reported vacancies.
