Syllabus for UPSC Civil Services Aptitude Test CSAT (Preliminary) Examination 2026

 

CSAT (Paper 1) (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs.

  • Current events of national and international importance
  • History of India and Indian National Movement
  • Indian and World Geography- Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
  • Indian Polity and Governance – Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
  • Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives etc.
  • General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate change-that do not require subject specialization
  • General science.

CSAT (Paper II) (200 marks) – Duration : Two hrs

  • Comprehension
  • Interpersonal skills including communication skills
  • Logical reasoning and analytical ability
  • Decision making and problem solving
  • General mental ability
  • Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level)

Notes:

  • The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.
  • CSAT Paper 2 (Aptiude) will be of qualifying nature i.e. minimum 33% marks will be required to clear it. 
  • CSAT Paper 1 (General Studies) will decide the cut-offs for qualifying into Civil Services main examinations. Approximately fifteen thousands clear this exam based on cut-offs and sit for main examination.

CSAT (पेपर 1) (200 अंक) - अवधि: दो घंटे

  1. राष्ट्रीय और अंतरराष्ट्रीय महत्व की समसामयिक घटनाएँ
  2. भारत का इतिहास और भारतीय राष्ट्रीय आंदोलन
  3. भारतीय और विश्व भूगोल – भारत और विश्व का भौतिक, सामाजिक, आर्थिक भूगोल
  4. भारतीय राजव्यवस्था और शासन – संविधान, राजनीतिक प्रणाली, पंचायती राज, लोक नीति, अधिकारों से जुड़े मुद्दे आदि
  5. आर्थिक और सामाजिक विकास – सतत विकास, गरीबी, समावेशन, जनसांख्यिकी, सामाजिक क्षेत्र की पहल आदि
  6. पर्यावरण पारिस्थितिकी, जैव विविधता और जलवायु परिवर्तन से संबंधित सामान्य मुद्दे (जिसके लिए विशेष विषय ज्ञान की आवश्यकता नहीं है)
  7. सामान्य विज्ञान

CSAT (पेपर II) (200 अंक) - अवधि: दो घंटे

  1. बोधगम्यता (Comprehension)
  2. पारस्परिक कौशल, जिसमें संचार कौशल भी शामिल है
  3. तार्किक तर्कशक्ति और विश्लेषणात्मक योग्यता
  4. निर्णय-निर्माण और समस्या समाधान
  5. सामान्य मानसिक क्षमता
  6. मौलिक गणितीय ज्ञान (संख्याएँ और उनके संबंध, परिमाण के क्रम आदि – कक्षा 10 स्तर), डेटा व्याख्या (चार्ट, ग्राफ, तालिकाएँ, डेटा पर्याप्तता आदि – कक्षा 10 स्तर)

महत्वपूर्ण नोट्स:

  • सभी प्रश्न बहुविकल्पीय और वस्तुनिष्ठ प्रकार के होंगे।
  • CSAT पेपर-II (अभिक्षमता) केवल योग्यता परीक्षा (Qualifying in nature) होगी, जिसमें न्यूनतम 33% अंक प्राप्त करना आवश्यक होगा।
  • CSAT पेपर-I (सामान्य अध्ययन) की कट-ऑफ के आधार पर मुख्य परीक्षा के लिए चयन किया जाएगा। लगभग 15,000 उम्मीदवार इस परीक्षा में सफल होकर मुख्य परीक्षा में बैठते हैं।
